about

This was the first track written, influencing the rest of the album, and my all time favourite to perform. We had to record a fairly live version of this, due to the fact that no version of it is ever the same.
About a little boy who resorts to murder.

lyrics

He sits all alone in his bedroom at night
wondering what he’s going to make of his life
and it’s like a great big ball of fire in his head
in the back of his mind, he knows he is dead
to the world

To the world
To the world
To the world

He runs and he runs but there’s nothing but blackness
and never once does it cross his mind to go back
to the home that is hell and the hell that is home
to the home that is hell and the hell that is home

Little child, where you going?
this horrible world’s going to be too much for you
Why do you hang your head in shame?
Through the pain, there was nothing more you could do
Nothing more that you could do
You could do
You could do

They laugh, and they laugh, and they laugh at you
as you think of all the things that you could do
Although violence isn’t in your bones,
your anger
it grows and it grows

Little child, where you going?
this horrible world’s going to be too much for you
You need to wash the bloodstains off your hands
I understand there was nothing else you could do
nothing else that you could do etc etc
